Boutique Hotel Hilversum

Located in the centre of Hilversum, The Netherlands this remarkable 1930s building was designed by renowned Dutch architect J.H. Slot. Jan Hendrik Slot was both an architect and real estate agent, and worked in the distinctive style of the Amsterdam School. His most renowned work is Gebouw Batavia on Prins Hendrikkade in Amsterdam. Dating from 1929, the building is currently in a severely neglected state and is partly occupied by commercial spaces and small studio apartments. Years of deferred maintenance, combined with numerous internal alterations, have resulted in the loss of much of the building’s original structure and character.

For the new owner, we developed a comprehensive transformation plan that restores the façades to their former glory while converting the building into a high-quality boutique hotel. The ground floor will accommodate hospitality spaces alongside the hotel lobby, while the upper floors will feature spacious hotel rooms. The hotel will operate according to a contemporary, fully automated hospitality concept, offering a seamless guest experience without the need for traditional on-site reception.

Sustainability also forms an integral part of the transformation. The building will undergo a comprehensive upgrade, including full insulation and energy-efficient installations, and the hotel will operate in accordance with the Green Key sustainability programme.
